There are copious public access points for boating and swimming along the lake. Need some great insight? Check out Rock Outfitters- they are a wealth of knowledge on all things about the lake and we find them delightful to work with. They are located on Hwy 8, right outside of town.

Old Salem is a GREAT spot- for a day trip, for lunch, or a quick stroll. One of the first towns in North Carolina, Old Salem was settled by Moravians in the 1700's. You can take a tour of Old Salem and experience life in early North Carolina, just book online or via phone before you go.

Chef Michael and his restaurant is one of our favorites. He uses local fair as much as possible and is a true Farm to Fork patron. He can be found most Saturday mornings picking out his items at the Lexington Farmers Market and can even be spotted at our farm darting in to grab Boston Butts for his Pork Carnitas or Andouille Sausage for his Shrimp and Grits. Please, please let them know that Crossings Farm sent you to check them out.

Ben and I often go to Sophies when we are needing a break from the farm and all things mundane. We have been delighted to watch this special spot grow over the past few years and look forward to seeing what Chef Jon will do next. You cant go wrong with anything on the menu !

While La Cava's Italian Restaurant is NOT in Lexington, it is only 15 miles away in Historic Downtown Salisbury and well worth the drive if your looking for something truly special. While maybe not for a routine meal experience, we find La Cava's one of our favorite special spots to visit when we are celebrating or just needing a romantic night out and away from the farm.

We just LOVE Main Street Deli. This is a pretty simple restaurant with a 1990's vibe (is that a thing?). Its one of those spots that we go for comfort and the spaghetti ! And the hot chips! And the grilled Chicken Sandwich! And the Roast Beef- Ok- if you can tell, we all have our favorites. The most important thing to note is that they do not like to stay open late. What ever their posted time is, the like to stop seating about 30 minutes prior. Go, enjoy the food and order the sweet tea !!

The areas newest vineyard. When you walk the ample grounds of Curran Alexander Vineyards, you can’t help but think, “This is what North Carolina looks like.” Located in the southern end of the Yadkin Valley, they have been growing premium wine grapes on the beautiful family farm since 2001. And with these delicately nurtured fruits, we have crafted remarkable wines for your enjoyment. The farm, which has been in their part of the family for nearly 150 years, is packed with historical significance, and we take pride in all that has happened in and around our property over the last several millennia. When you’re here, you can freely walk the grounds, and be sure to stop by our myriad landmarks to learn about their storied past.

Verkehrsmittel

You will need a car

Definitely not in a large city, but to get to Crossing and around the area, you will need a car. There is very little public transportation here and to really enjoy the area it is best to bring your car with you or to rent one from the airport if you are flying in . Which airport is best to fly into? We love GSO (Greensboro, NC). Its a cute, friendly and normally quiet airport that is easy to navigate. You can also fly into Charlotte or Raleigh.

Waving and saying hello

Reeds (our community) is small, and for the most part, so is Lexington. "Around here", we all wave when we see you standing or driving. We also tell most everyone "Good morning", "Hi, there" or at least acknowledge . If you really want to fit in, throw in a "How are y'all".

Biltmore in Asheville

We are only 2 hours away from Asheville, NC and we truly LOVE the Biltmore House. Not only are they still a private residence with a WORKING FARM, they are just super cool. If your going to be here for more than a day, we highly recommend that you pack a trip and go to Asheville for the day and visit the Biltmore House. But, before you go, make sure and book your trip, especially if you are planning on doing any behind the scenes tours (which we highly recommend). You cant go wrong with the Biltmore !
Was einpacken?

Pack the closet !!

Well y'all, its North Carolina, which means that it can be 20 in the morning, 75 by 2pm and a light snow by 8 in any season except dead summer. We really do suggest that you pack for almost anything since we do have pretty interesting weather swings.

Area Vineyards

There are a ton of Vineyards within 30-45 minutes. We are situated firmly in the Yadkin Valley (the river is just 2 miles by the crow flies). In the 1800s, North Carolina dominated the wine scene, until prohibition. In North Carolina our native grape is the Muscadine. You can see a few of our own Muscadine vines behind the farm store. Most of these offer tastings and tours, but you might need to book ahead.
