Semi-secret amazing little place! Vegetarian, freshly-prepared Indian food that tastes like Indian home-cooking (trust me, I’ve tasted my mother-in-law’s food many times). Not too heavy, but flavorful. Lines get long on weekends and service is generally slow but warm.

Over 100 years old, the oldest continuously operating Japanese restaurant in Seattle. Homestyle food with reasonable prices. Appetizers are particularly good and the sushi is decent although not the main reason to go. Best to reserve ahead of time even for weekdays as it gets quite crowded. If you’re a medium/large size group, ask for the tatami rooms.

One of our favorites in Seattle with medium roast beans and delicious house-made pastries. Drinks on the pricier side, but there are unique coffee "cocktails" - their pistachio matcha is amazing!

Some say the best pasta in the city. Made fresh every day with different seasonal sauces (always one veg option). The chef/owner won a James Beard award recently. Beware long long lines even on weekdays, so get there at 10:45am (opens at 11am) or earlier…or arrive later.

A bit of a trek south but near the Othello Light Rail so public transport convenient. One of our favorites in Seattle. Be sure to try the Lao menu, Kao Nam Tod, a crispy rice salad, and the Khao Soy or anything on their Lao menu.

We love the duck egg noodles with herbs, Mi Vit Tiem. Hands down one of best dishes in Seattle. If you're with a group, pre-order the giant deep-fried catfish (~$100).
