Food Scene

Limited options for eating out once you're up the canyon. May want to stop at Mishawaka on the way up!
The cabin is about 1 mile up canyon from Glen Echo. Take your time and shop while waiting for a bite to eat. Another good place to meet locals and get to know more about the area.

Finding Peace &/or Adventure

Take a hike at Shambala to the temple for a moment of reflection. Hike behind the cabin. Raft the river (Spring into Summer) Climb a mountain peak. Throw snowballs.
Now called Drala Mountain Center. Visitors are welcome. Meditative classes, events and hiking available. Interesting and amazing structure in the middle of the mountains.

Sightseeing

The road follows the river tightly. Sight-see, but feel free to pull over, rather than being distracted while driving or holding up faster traffic. The canyon is beautiful from bottom to top, so be sure to take a day to explore and stop at various camps, pull-offs, or picnic areas. Remember your fishing rod (& license and rules/regs).
