Payamas and Jam was a hidden treasure for locals until people discovered the delicious fresh food that they serve. It is unusual with so much character and friendly service. I highly recommend Breakfast and lunches here. Plan for some time to chill and enjoy the interior - and fireplace in winter !

This is a top end farm with iconic gardens and views, and 2 amazing restaurants. Not cheap, but worth the splurge. There is also a SPA on the property - if you can afford it. Go for a mid-morning wine tasting followed by a lazy late lunch to drink in the spectacular views. Very popular with International tourists

You cannot get closer to the ocean and rocks while having a great meal and stunning views than this. Best to call and make a reservation. Take a walk on the pier and watch the fishing boats pull in/out or the big seals just lying around on the edges. We have been here so many times and keep on going back. Walking through the quint Kalk Bay streets is such a treat - and could dent your wallet a bit :) This is a lovely day trip destination

This beautiful town is an hour away from Somerset using the mountain road. I would recommend taking the beautiful scenic drive towards Betty's Bay with a quick stop over in Kleinmond. Take in the maintains and ocean that you can almost touch. Hermanus is known for is land-based whale watching from almost anywhere along the winding coastal path, with the main area centered around many restaurants and coffee shops. It's worth spending a full day here to rejuvenate your soul and take way too many photos ! Take the 1 hour route back through the mountains and over the Sir Lowrys pass with Somerset West at the bottom of this pass.

Every trip to Cape Town is worth the drive up to Signal Hill. The almost 360-views of the ocean and majestic Table Mountain are just stunning on a cloudless day. It can become very busy as this is also where the para-gliders launch from. Sit and watch them get ready and take off ! There are toilets up here and always a welcome ice-cream truck on hot days. You never get tired of this view.

If you're into moderate hiking, this is not to be missed ! The hike starts close to "The Grill Shack" located on the R44 heading away from Gordons Bay. (20min from here) You need to obtain a permit from the Grill Shack BEFORE the hike as they control the amount of people in the reserve. Spend 2-3 hours round-trip to hike in spectacular scenery and swim in mountain pools.
