Favorite Hikes
Moderate , challenging hike. Not a walk in the park. Fantastic, awesome views and hiking experience for those who venture up. Very do-able but be prepared for a workout. Hiking time can vary from short 1 hour loop to 7 hour hike depending on the choice of trails and desired distance . Moderate to challenging depending on the weather, but definitely do-able for folks that are healthy and motivated. Hike has some rock scrambling, especially the 1st segment , about 20 minutes of scrambling up to the flag. Strongly recommend using hands on rocks. Also gives you additional upper body and core workout if you scramble up rocks on feet and hands. Think Spiderman or SpiderWoman :) . Please make sure to bring at least 2 liters of water and appropriate hiking shoes if possible. Also dress appropriately for weather and light layers is best clothing for hiking. Try to avoid wearing cotton during cold weather hikes. For winter hiking , bring a pair of spikes, crampons. Night Lights \ head lamps for late day hikes to ensure safe exits under darkness

Historic Site with flowing creek & Waterfalls
Directions to West Point Foundry from 191 Main Street - head down Main Street, Make a LEFT on Kemble Avenue, walk about .5 miles to entrance.
Recommended Route - make a left at the West Point Foundry Preserve Sign and follow the path on the right to Historic Ruins of the West Point Foundry. The creek and waterfalls will be located on the far right of metal path. You can hike all the way up and come down on the left side (complete loop) to take in all the history and beauty of this wonderful easy hike. As you exit back towards the entrance, walk past the West Point Foundry Preserve Sign and Bathrooms to path heading towards the River & Trains to see more. There is a metal staircase on the right that will take you up to a bluff with awesome views overlooking Constitution Marsh with views of the Hudson River and West Point. An off the path location that is great for an afternoon picnic or some bird watching. Bring your binoculars if you can as Bald Eagles and other birds nest in Constitution Marsh. As you exit Metal Stairs turn RIGHT towards train tracks to exit on Train Platform to Lower Main Street in Cold Spring Village.
