It will take all day to drive to Milford Sound and do a cruise and/or scenic flight and kayak. Make sure you leave early so you have time to stop at places a long the way. There is a map of the drive in the green folder with all the information you need.
A Doubtful Sound cruise is a little more laid back than Milford Sound. It's only a 15 min drive, less crowds, and it's great value for money with a cruise over Lake Manapouri, a bus trip over Wilmot Pass and then a cruise in Doubtful Sound all included in the price.

Favourite Day Walks
There are several options for a day walk on the Kepler Track. If you are fit you climb up to Luxmore Hut for great views up South Fiord. Or if you are looking for a flatter track, one option is from Rainbow Reach carpark into Moturau Hut on the shores of Lake Manapouri with lovely bush, ferns, and a wet land boardwalk along the way (4 hrs return). A second options is from the Te Anau control gates to Doc Bay (1 hr return) or Brod Bay (3 hrs return) which is a lovely bush walk along the edge of Lake Te Anau ending with nice beaches.

From the divide (on the way to Milford Sound) you can climb up to Key Summit on the Routeburn track with spectacular mountain views including the Hollyford Valley (3 hrs return). You can carry on and drop down to Lake Howden if you are feeling keen.
