There are so many fabulous towns to explore around Cannes. One of the best ways to get around is by train and the station (Gare in French) is just a few minutes walk from the apartment. The coastal ride to towns like Antibes (10 mins), Nice (40 mins) and Monaco (1 hr) is stunning! In just over 1 and a half hours, trains run directly to Ventimiglia (Italy) where you can visit their Friday morning markets and sample some of the best pizza, pasta and gelato! Or you could go inland to a typical hill perched, Provençal town called Grasse (20 mins) which is known as the world capital of perfumery. Here you can visit some of their perfume factories such as Fragonard, Gallimard and Molinard.

A lively (but pricey) restaurant along the Croisette with stunning views over the Mediterranean. Especially during the summer months, book well in advance! NB: There are 2 Môme restaurants in Cannes (be careful to book the right one!). La Môme Plage is the best restaurant during warm summer days/evenings and La Môme on Rue Florian is great for the rest of the year.

Astoux et Brun has been serving seafood and fresh fish in Cannes since 1953. They open for lunch and dinner but you can buy fresh seafood from their shop throughout the day. They’re popular in Cannes for fresh fish (sea bass or salmon, for example), prawns and oysters. They have menus in English, Italian and German as well as an outdoor terrace. To find out the dish of the day, check their Facebook page. The atmosphere here is modern but traditional with friendly service and great wine.

We love the poke bowls from here which you can custom make, adding your favourite ingredients (vegan and vegetarian options available). The large bowl is not only filling but delicious and fairly cheap for Cannes (roughly 14 euros). You can even order your bowls online.

Trains are the easiest way to visit coastal towns

Towns along the coast such as Antibes, Nice, Menton, Monaco and even Ventimiglia in Italy, are best to travel to by train, which is a 3 minute walk from our apartment. If you want to visit inland medieval villages, then a car is recommended and these are the towns/villages you don't want to miss: Grasse, Mougins Vieux Village, Saint Paul de Vence and Eze.

To visit Saint Tropez, don't drive there in the high season!

If you want to go to Saint Tropez, the best way to get there from Cannes is by boat as the roads are very busy, especially during the summer months! More information on the times and price of the boat can be found on the website trans cote azur depart Cannes bateau saint tropez (sorry Airbnb stopped me from putting a link in)
Verkehrsmittel

Why not hire a boat for a day!

Use the app Click&Boat to hire a boat for a day with or without a skipper to visit the Ile de Lerins or other coastal towns. Remember to reserve in advance not to be disappointed.
