The buckwheat pancakes (with fresh banana, cinnamon roasted almonds, and ginger & honey syrup) at Neo Cafe is my favourite way to start the day, but beware - the stack is high so make sure you're not in a hurry.

Baobab Cafe is located in the indie/hipster neighbourhood of Newtown. They have the most exquisite counter food and also a sit down menu to die for - vegans, those with food intolerances, or if you simply love healthy fresh food, you must check this place out! Google for the menu.

Phoenician Falafel makes the best doner kebabs in town. Forgot to organise dinner? Grab a kebab on the way home or dine in - with their homemade garlic yoghurt sauce I'm yet to find a menu item that isn't delicious.

Te Papa, New Zealand's national museum, is a 20 minute stroll from the apartment. The permanent exhibits are great for tourists, while the temporary paid exhibitions usually involve sculpture and interactive features loved by tourists and locals alike.

Pukeahu War Memorial Park has been newly developed in the last two years but the trees are really starting to grow and the grass is lush. Take a book with you and enjoy the serinity of this green area only five minutes from the apartment (straight up Rugby Street and then take a right down Tasman Street).

We don't have an observation deck in Wellington so for the best star-studded night views of the city head up to Mt Victoria Lookout. It's not far from the city but the shortest route is through the hiking and mountain bike tracks so it's best to grab an Uber on the way home.
