This is an amazing place to see. In 1954, oil tycoon J. Paul Getty opened a gallery adjacent to his home in Pacific Palisades. Quickly running out of room, he built a second museum, the Getty Villa, on the property down the hill from the original gallery. The villa design was inspired by the Villa of the Papyri at Herculaneum and incorporated additional details from several other ancient sites.

Great beach. Clean and with all necessary amenities. Beach volleyball. Parking is convenient. There is hourly parking option. Marion Davies Guest house is a great place for the community. They put on free tours.Everything is restored and it is definitely worth a visit when you're at Santa Monica Beach. The pool was restored from the original estate which is next door.

In the 1970s, artists braved dangerous conditions and began to occupy the area’s dilapidated buildings, having been priced out of areas such as Venice and Hollywood.
