Parks & Nature
Must not miss this one from November to April!! You can go other times as well, but the nature is more limited. It is an easy 1 km boardwalk about three feet above the swamp, where you will see gators, an incredible selection of shore birds feeding, otters if you are lucky, turtles and much more. There are several bird watching docks on the path. Take your camera as you won't regret it! Free to get in and you just have to pay for parking (a few dollars) We LOVE going here!!

Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve
7751 Penzance BlvdMust not miss this one from November to April!! You can go other times as well, but the nature is more limited. It is an easy 1 km boardwalk about three feet above the swamp, where you will see gators, an incredible selection of shore birds feeding, otters if you are lucky, turtles and much more. Great, close place for some R and R as it is a quiet beach, unlike Fort Myers Beach or the other bigger beaches. Don't miss the amazing sunsets!

Great, close place for some R and R as it is a quiet beach, unlike Fort Myers Beach or the other bigger beaches. Don't miss the amazing sunsets!
This is a rescue station where 50% of the birds are rehabilitated and released back into the wild. There is a huge heron's nest in the parking lot in the tree which usually has a family in it. Feeding time is 230 pm and other birds fly in for a free meal. It is free to get in, they survive on donations only, so please be kind. :)

There is a huge heron's nest in the parking lot in the tree which usually has a family in it. Feeding time is 230 pm and other birds fly in for a free meal. It is free to get in, they survive on donations only, so please be kind. :)
The Manatee's are here Nov-April. You can kayak with them for $15. They have underwater listening devices so you can hear them as well. Free to get in and parking is one dollar.

This cute shopping/sightseeing village is a must see. It is set up to look magical, depending on what season/holiday is around. Shops are unique and there are several photo ops for you and your family (Jaws is there, the shots where you put your face in the circle etc...) There is a restaurant at the very end of it on the bay with affordable meals. Don't miss the military museum in there as well; free to get in.
