Tyrifjorden (Lake Tyri) is Norway's fifth largest lake. It is 295 meters deep at its deepest, and lies 63 meters above sea level. The lake's primary source is the Begna river, which discharges into Tyrifjorden at Hønefoss where the river forms the waterfall of Hønefossen. The Old Norse form of the name was just Tyri (or Tyrvi). It is derived from the word tyri meaning "old pine (wood)", referring specifically to the woods of the western side of the lake.

Vikersund Ski Jumping - the worlds largest skijumping hill! Park your car at the bottom of the ski jump, and walk up the road on the right. It will take around 30 minutes. Follow the sign "Vingen". That is the name of the skijump tower. Great view from the top to Norefjell and Gaustadtoppen! Great view from the top, steps were narrow but close together, in places there was a hand rail, the world records were placed on the steps so you could picture the distance that was jumped and at the top there were toilets and a café. the names of the mountains were named. There were also other jumps of varying distances that helped to emphasise just how incredible the biggest jump is.
