Food Scene

It’s not just a place to eat, it’s the experience of dining together, eating from each other’s plates, sharing stringy bites, stealing toppings, sneaking desserts into the kids just before bedtime. Laughing, dining, wining, celebrating, enjoying. It’s about family, first.

The Apartheid Museum, the first of its kind, illustrates the rise and fall of apartheid. An architectural consortium, comprising several leading architectural firms, conceptualised the design of the building on a seven-hectare stand. The museum is a superb example of design, space and landscape offering the international community a unique South African experience. The exhibits have been assembled and organised by a multi-disciplinary team of curators, film-makers, historians and designers. They include provocative film footage, photographs, text panels and artefacts illustrating the events and human stories that are part of the epic saga, known as apartheid.

Imagine a place where the likes of Hugo Boss and Louis Vuitton, Carrol Boyes and Apple showcase their very best ranges; a place where you can sip on the world's finest coffee or enjoy a French croissant or a slice of local milk tart - all under one roof. If you can imagine it, then you've pictured Sandton City, one of Africa's leading and most prestigious shopping centres.

Variety of food options, all the basics (grocery stores, chemist, dry cleaners and banks) and a few speciality shops. I love the booksellers' informal store. They set up tables and sell imported books at very reasonable prices. The Uber pick-up spots are easy to find. It's a quiet mall with all your everyday shopping needs. Banks, supermarkets, eateries and a few clothing shops. Very convenient. Only 10 minute walk
