Parks & Nature
Blenheim Palace ‘Britain’s Greatest Palace and the birthplace of Winston Churchill – you get a special perspective walking there from Brook Lodge. Truly spectacular. From Brook Lodge you are overlooking land, managed and owned by Blenheim Palace. There is plenty to explore and ‘secret gates’ with free access (all marked on maps in the lodge) but to visit the Palace and Gardens there is a charge. A visit to Brook Lodge will enable you to really take time to enjoy the Palace and parts of the grounds that few see.

My husband Richard does some voluntary warden work on this RSPB reserve. Its about 25 minute to drive but it a special place and has a lovely wildness to it.
For me the highlight is in the winter when most evenings thousands of Starlings come together around dusk wheeling and turning to create amazing shapes across the early evening sky. If you are interested we can give you details.

Just five minutes walk away and open seven days a week. So lucky to have this little shop and Post Office on our doorstep and it saves jumping in the car to get essentials and newspapers.

Visitors who come half way round the world to visit the UK often appear to have the 'designer shopping at outlet prices' Bicester Village on their 'must visit' list. So it can get very, very crowded. Tip.. get there early and miss the crowds. Another tip, drive to OXFORD PARKWAY station in Kidlington where you can park for free and take a train to BICESTER VILLAGE STATION and avoid any hassle parking.

Leave Brook Lodge, down to the River Evenlode (five mins walk) and cross the pretty bridge and then walk across the valley floor and up a gentle slop to the Roman Villa. The villa once has 60 rooms and the remains are an evocative place to visit and let your imagination run wild. A special place to visit at any time, particularly early morning or at sunset.
