Sightseeing

Built in 1830 by John Brickett using hand-hewn timbers and locally-fired bricks, the house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 as a "unique example" of vernacular Federal architecture in a very remote geographical context. Brickette Place is about 6 miles North of the Cottage. It can be easily accessed through Route 113. (NOTE - Gate to Maine on Route 113 is closed during winter season.)

Baldface Circle Trail is one of the most famous trail in New England. It is less than 3,500 feet and offers a superb 36- degree views. The Baldface trip is labelled by many as one of the best hikes in the White Mountains. The entire loop takes about 8 hours to complete. One can always do half of the loop and still enjoy the beautiful sceneries the Trail has to offer.

A short and easy hike (around 1 hour) from Deer Hill Road brings you to the spring with air bubbles rising through a patch of sand. The locals treat this Spring as local treasure and try to clean up the debris from trees/leaves on a regular basis.

A very nice 60 foot waterfall, The Hermit Falls are accessible from the Basin Rim Trail that represents a brief ascent (1.3 miles) from Route 113.
