Love to see the migrating birds. This is a good flat walk. Bring a jacket as it can be windy!

Bounded by Mountain View and East Palo Alto, the 1,940-acre Baylands Preserve is one of the largest tracts of undisturbed marshland remaining in the San Francisco Bay. Fifteen miles of multi-use trails provide access to a unique mixture of tidal and fresh water habitats. Many consider this area to be one of the best bird watching areas on the west coast. The preserve has a substantial resident population of birds as well as being a major migratory stopover on the Pacific Flyway.

Once you get parked, look around for the little nature center building- it has a very long pier that takes you all the way out to the water- if it's open. As you go the length of the pier, you're surrounded on both sides by vivid reds, greens, and yellows... all one type of vegetation called pickleweed.

Very beautiful place to go for walks, lots of migratory birds, jack rabbits, foxes, pelicans, great blue herons, all kinds of water birds to see.
