These guys deliver flavour every time. Multiple locations. Fantastic fresh authentic thai food! It all started from a man who fell in love with a nurse in Thailand who got the opportunity to show her cooking skills and they brought that to Canada! Their fried fish dish is especially tantalizing! It can be a tiny bit chaotic and sitting close to others but some tables are tucked away so try to be one of the lucky ones!

Cuz their food is just good!! Lamesa is a Philippine cuisine staple in the west end, taking it contemporary with their own twists! Their decor and atmosphere is artistic, creative, and homey! I went there for brunch and it was really nice!

Having parents that grew up in Japan, amplified my taste for Japanese food. Ematei is one of the best in the city, affordable lunch options and great variety in food! Their fried pork over rice called "katsu don" is so well flavoured and is filling! And their sushi is perfect blend of spicy wasabi with sweetness in the rice, I am shamefully not a huge fan of wasabi but they do it in a way where the wasabi is not overpowering! Their dinner's are more expensive but very good quality and taste!

Their flavours of gelato here are all asian inspired and super delicious! Sometimes it has a line, but overall it's really lovely after dinner when you can sit outside under the charming lights and eat some delicious gelato!

This spot has really delicious food - and a lovely front patio with just enough sun and shade. Their service can sometimes be a bit slow, but it is worth it, so don't go when you're absolutely starving! I love their fish tacos and their calamari was great!

This place is very close to the house and is perfect for cheap quick eats, fast food! If you just landed to Toronto and need somewhere quick and easy, there are great options here. Most of the meals here cost $10, there are many options in this food court, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Middle Eastern, McDonald's, Poilsh, Greek, Mexican! "Mean Bao" is really good, go down the steps in the back and you will find it! "Souvlaki House" is also great, get the lunch specials that are less than $6! "Helena's Magic Kitchen" is one of my favourite go-to's. Try their spinach stuffed chicken, or their potato pancakes with sour cream, or their quiches! Delicious. There's also bubble tea and smoothies here, and some vegan/vegetarian options at the Burrito place and other places too!

Banh Mi Boys has amazing kimchi french fries, it's like a korean poutine! Innncredible, they dont have small sizes so either share with a friend or get it if you're absolutely starving! Best pho I've had in the city! Definitely way better broth base than its contender up the street. I absolutely love their rare beef and tripe pho, with extra bean sprouts, make sure to rip up the thai basil and put it all in the bowl! Yes, use your hands to rip up the thai basil. And taste the broth before you put chili sauce or hoisin sauce, I prefer just a tad of chili sauce and I'm ready to chow down! Also, these guys have a fantastic fried spring roll - omg it's delicious.

This place has a great atmosphere, wonderful wood-fired pizzas and great wines to match. You can ask for which wines would go best with the pizza you choose. Would be great for a date or with friends or family. They have multiple locations and make sure to call if it's a bit late at night, their closing hours are not written online.

Drinks & Nightlife

Barchef is well known in Toronto amongst alcohol lovers and conoisseurs. They pride themselves on being chefs of cocktails, not of food. They make their own bitters in-house, and have created a masterful menu of contemporary cocktsils that wow you through your senses. The servers are very knowledgeable and can help you choose what might tantilize your tongue! This is a dimly lit, bougie, intimate setting.

This place feels like going upstairs into a cool apartment that some very cool artist had designed, it has graffiti all over the stairwell, and once you walk in you see very nice wood, industrial furniture and super relaxed bouncers. Usually Sunday nights are surprisingly busy here, and it only gets busy after midnight. Before then, it's a sweet loungey spot with a great long marble bar, a few arcade games (like Street Fighter), a pool table and lots of couches and tables to relax at. Games are all free to play. And a DJ is spinning after dinner hours with a tiny dance floor in front of them, although you can dance anywhere in this whole place.

This is a hip, grungy type of place with smashed nachos in a chip bag as snacks, bbq'ed wings in the back patio (late afternoon) and turns into a dance floor inside at night. Even on a Sunday night it's pretty live until about 11:30pm. It's found in a very inconspicuous alleyway, so might be difficult to find, but that is the joy of finding Secret Spots!

416 snack bar is a great place to grab a drink and some fantastic appetizers. My favourite is their spicy tuna handroll... I know, so much Japanese food I'm recommending but it's sooo good! So far everything I've eaten there is very good. Beware, the atmosphere is dimly lit, and you'll likely sit very close to other guests but with the music, good drinks, good snacks and good company, you slowly forget about the hustle and bustle happening around you. So this is not exactly a calming, family gathering type place. Going here with 2 or 3 people is good, 4 and up will be a stretch to find seating because it's small!

This is very close to the house, it's a restaurant with an extensive beer menu! My favourite beer is 'Delirium Tremens', it has more alcohol content than most beers so beware! Nathan Phillips Square is directly in front of City Hall and has a great skating rink for the winter, as well as the infamous TORONTO sign that was built for the 2015 Pan American Games which we had the pleasure of hosting. Take a selfie in front of the sign! At nighttime, the sign lights up in different colours depending on the day, or if it's a holiday - so don't miss that too!

You can enjoy a segueway tour here! This area has great ambience to it, old red brick buildings and stone walkways, it's romantic - wonderful during the Christmas holidays. You can see the eclectric, earthy side of Toronto here with fresh fruit and veggie markets, funky shops, no shortage of clothing, trinkets and incense from India, Africa, Nepal and more. Music record shops, vintage clothing shops, great mexican and latin restaurants, and tons of bars to choose from. You can also catch great live music, bars with a dance floor, and awesome art installations on the street. They have pedestrian sundays where no cars are allowed to drive there, so you can zigzag across the streets from one store to another and not be worried about getting hit by a car! You can certainly catch DJ's spinning here, or live music!

What was once the tallest freestanding structure in the world, is now 3rd tallest in the world! You can either see it from afar, or walk right up to the base of it. There are some observatory floors you can go up to at the top, and even a rotating restaurant up there! Try to go when the sun is out and the sky is clear, so you can get the best view of the City! If you have the guts, and aren't really afraid of heights, try the 'Edge Walk' where you pay to walk along the edge (of course harnessed for safety), of the 3rd tallest structure in the world - yes. I am never going to do it.. hahaha!

I love how huge High Park is, you can ride a bike here, go jogging here, have a picnic or do some yoga and fitness. In April there are beautiful japanese sakura cherry blossoms here. There are soccer fields, a baseball diamond and a restaurant or two. It's right off the subway, and there's small ponds to see some ducks and geese. This park is big enough to fit any of your needs!

Toronto Island is a $7.50 ferry ride away from Toronto. And it's a very short 10-15 minute ride. "What started as a weekly fix of edgy jokes mixed with high and low performance art soon became a full-time force in the then trendy Yorkville area in Toronto. We quickly grew into an overnight sensation with a chain of clubs across the country, an exclusive talent agency, touring shows, festivals and television productions. The mission then, as it is now, is giving stage time to funny Canadians who want to develop and share their slanted take on life. Notable alumni include: Rick Moranis, Howie Mandel, Jim Carrey, Norm Macdonald, Russell Peters, Harland Williams, Shaun Majumder, Carla Collins, Gerry Dee, Gerry Bednob, The Bullard Brothers (Mike and Pat), Mike MacDonald, Elvira Kurt and voice animation star Maurice Lamarche. While Yuk’s talent is 99% Canadian pure, the other 1% reads like a comedy hall of fame. Pretty much any comedian worth their bit played our stages long before they were stars, including Robin Williams, David Letterman, Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, Sam Kinison, Bob Saget, Gilbert Gottfried, Margaret Cho, Eddie Izzard, Mort Sahl and even 60s guru Timothy Leary who was performing his own brand of standup philosophy." What could be more Canadian than good old fashioned axe throwing at targets? Hahaha, you can wear a lumber jack's plaid shirt to match the theme. This is definitely something to do with a friend, even up to 10 people! You have a target, and you get a professional staff to teach you how to do it, then you compete against your friends on who can get the most points! These are real axes, so please be careful. Oh and it's BYOB - bring your own beer, they say no liqueur though. Be the ultimate Canadian lumber jack for a few hours, drink a Canadian beer and throw axes!
