This German-style beer hall makes its own pretzels and serves the classics like schnitzel etc. -- it's got a good selection of German beer. And, best of all, you can play bocce indoors! Family-friendly till 10pm, then adults only.

Not exactly a brewery or "night life," this is more like a great boutique pub that happens to sell beer on tap (for on-premise consumption) or by the bottle (to take home). Beer snobs revel in happy hours here, and while there's not much food on offer you can order delivery from several walking-distance restaurants. Wine drinkers and gluten free have some cider and wine options.

Sightseeing

The Museum of Glass in Tacoma is a worthy field trip for those interested in the NW's art glass scene, led by the charismatic Dale Chihuly and the so-called Pilchuck School of artists. While there are some Chihuly attractions in Seattle (garden by space needle), this museum is much more interesting and also features a live "hot shop" where you can see visiting glass artists demonstrating how they make different ceramic sculptures.

Parks & Nature

This city park boasts a beach-front where you can watch ferries cross the water to Vashon Island, a salt-water swimming pool (small fee), and a nice 1.25 mile waterfront boardwalk (plus a hilltop tree-covered walk with views). It's a great place to picnic or wander around.

This small park used to be a gas plant, and you can see the artfully rusted guts of the former gas works. But it's also on the north end of Lake Union, meaning it's a great place to park to go on a walk/jog along the Burke Gilman trail, to have a picnic, watch sea planes landing on the lake, or toss a frisbee around. Essential Baking Co. nearby is a good place to grab picnic food.
