Perfect for a romantic getaway or a much-needed mini-break with good friends. Located just up the hill from the gently flowing Mad River, Fox Hill House is your relaxing home away from home. The house is on a hill, nestled in the woods, yet 5 minutes from Downtown Waitsfield, with restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, etc. We are also less than a mile from Yestermorrow Design Build School and approximately three miles from The Round Barn.
If you are a winter sports enthusiast, we are 9 minutes from Sugarbush, 10 minutes from Ole’s Cross Country Center, 13 minutes from Mad River Glen (skiers only - no snowboarding at the Glen), 43 minutes from Stowe, and just over an hour from Killington.
In the summer, there are incredible hiking and mountain biking trails nearby.
If you would like some entertainment outside of the natural beauty of the area, there are books, games, puzzles and a smart TV with AT&T Now (formerly DirecTV Now) including HBO, ESPN, etc, Chromecast, Apple TV and various other streaming options. Alexa is in the house, so unplug if you do not want to use the Echo Dot on the Living Room shelf.
Note that the house is on a short dirt road, but it is flat and maintained by the town, so in very good shape. There are two tandem parking spaces on the upper driveway closest to the house for your exclusive use. If you need more spaces, let us know, as we may be able to arrange for more.
There are stairs up to the house - the price you pay for the lovely views of the Mad River and Valley.
There is no cell service at the house (at least not AT&T) - set your phone to WiFi calling and jump on the WiFi. This is what I use for phone service and it works like a charm.
**We know that there can sometimes be delays on your trip to Vermont and that stores/restaurants might be closed when you do arrive. Please know that there will always be frozen pizza and other little snacks available at the house for you for just this situation.
For the beer enthusiast, Lawson’s Finest Liquids is just down the street (open 11am-8pm) or we can arrange to have your refrigerator stocked with the much-sought after, #1-rated beer in the US -- Heady Topper by the Alchemist -- which is brewed nearby and only sold in Vermont.
*Special Note about beds - King bed (in bedroom) & pullout couch bed (in living room) are each comfortable for 2 adults; the ottoman pullout (in living room) is comfortable for 1 adult; the pullout chair and a half (in bedroom) is comfortable for a child.
Final note (as it is not easy to find on all viewing platforms): the nightly rate is for 4 people; any additional guests (up to 2 for a total maximum occupancy of 6) are $15 each/night.
There are only 4 houses on this quiet dirt road, but we are seconds off of Route 100 and 5 minutes from Downtown Waitsfield, with restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, etc. Enjoy the natural beauty of the area and walk along the river or head to town to catch a movie or enjoy all of the lively restaurants and bars in the area.
Christys Haus war fantastisch. Auf jeden Fall eines der schönsten Airbnb's, in denen ich je übernachtet habe. Dies ist ein kürzlich renoviertes, blitzsauberes kleines Haus mit allen modernen Annehmlichkeiten. Wir liebten die bestückte Küche mit brauchbaren Messern, Geräten und Kochutensilien. Gegen eine geringe Gebühr ließen wir einige Heady Topper-Bier- und Frühstückslebensmittel warten, als wir um Mitternacht ankamen, und es war sehr hilfreich. Das Haus ist weniger als zehn Minuten von Sugarbush entfernt und leicht von der Route 100 zu erreichen, also sehr bequem zu allem. Wir fanden das schnelle Internet, die weichen Handtücher und die schöne Bettwäsche. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder hier übernachten, wenn es für unsere nächste Reise verfügbar ist!
