Unterkünfte in Ravenstonedale
Large suite of rooms on the top floor of our Georgian Grade II listed house in Kendal town centre quietly tucked away at the head of an historic cobbled yard. Double bedroom, huge adjoining living room (with basic kitchenette and double sofa bed) and modern bathroom all for the exclusive use of our guests. Free parking.
Although the suite is part of our house, it is private and self contained with its own access so you can come and go as you please. The suite can comfortably accommodate 4 people with 1 double bedroom, large private living room (28ft x 21ft - 8.5m x 6.5m) with basic kitchenette and double sofa bed and a modern private bathroom. Please note: there are no cooking or washing up facilities in the suite. Crockery and cutlery is provided for breakfast and/or takeaway food and we collect and do the washing up for you when requested! All rooms have double height ceilings with exposed beams, great views across Kendal's rooftops to the hills beyond and plenty of character. The living room has 2 large lounging sofas (one of which opens to a comfortable double bed) a 48" Smart HD TV and DVD player and kitchenette with fridge, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine and Aeroccino milk frother, toaster, crockery and cutlery. The bedroom has a double bed, flat screen TV and digital radio. The bathroom has a large free-standing bath with hand held shower, twin sinks, underfloor heating and glass towel warmer. Towels, bed linen, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, universal travel adaptor and hot water bottles are provided. Wi-fi. You'll find a large selection of DVDs under the coffee table and an array of local interest books, leaflets and maps which you are welcome to use during your stay. Help-yourself-breakfast is provided for each day of your stay at no extra cost (homemade bread, butter and preserves, fresh fruit, cereal, milk, local yoghurts, fruit juices, black and herbal teas and a selection of Nespresso coffees). There are ice cubes in the freezer compartment of the fridge. Please take a look at our guidebook for details of local restaurants and eateries we recommend. We own a miniature Dachshund (very small). Her name is Miss Saveloy Sausage or Savvy for short. She is very quiet, friendly and adores children but is never allowed in the suite (she can't get up the stairs - they are too big)!
There is a superb supermarket 2 minutes walk away that stocks a wide variety of local and specialist produce and has an excellent cheese counter, deli section and off licence. Kendal's bustling high street is one minute's walk away where you'll find plenty of shops, a library, the post office and several banks. There's a Costa on the main high street and Caffe Nero is in the marketplace. It's worth exploring Kendal's historic yards where you'll find many of our more individual retailers and businesses. The market town of Kendal lies just outside the spectacular Lake District National Park, has plenty of pubs, cafés, takeaways and restaurants, 2 museums, a leisure centre with swimming pool, golf course, the Abbot Hall Art Gallery and the Brewery Arts Centre with a theatre, cinemas, art galleries, bars and a regular live music programme (visit the breweryarts website). There are plenty of places to explore with lovely parks (Kendal Castle, Serpentine Woods and Noble's Rest) and pleasant walks along the river Kent right on our doorstep. There is a street market every Wednesday and Saturday and a farmer's market once a month. EATERIES AND CAFÉS WE RECOMMEND: CASTLE DAIRY Visit castledairy.co.uk to book. The Castle Dairy Restaurant and Art Gallery offers a unique dining experience in Kendal’s oldest inhabited building. Staffed by Kendal College apprentices and watched over by chef Robert Stacey, the restaurant provides exceptional food, surrounded by local art work, in a truly unusual setting. • Ich fange mit einem Wort an! Beeindruckend!

  • Toller Raum, wirklich einzigartig!

My stone terrace cottage is located in one of Kendal's conservation areas and 5 minutes walk to the station, town centre and the river Kent. The cottage is a cosy, quiet, relaxing space with an enclosed wildlife garden at the back of the house.
The house was built in 1820 as an old weavers house apparently. I renovated it 8 years ago with an open plan kitchen and lounge with wood burning stove. The kitchen has an fan oven and gas hob, fridge and freezer, kettle, toaster and microwave, and everything you need to cook meals or enjoy a take-out. There is a small kitchen table and chairs that you can get out and use in the house or for breakfast in the garden. The log burner is a treat in winter with a free supply of wood. There is Wifi and a selection of books and maps, allowing you to make the most of your stay. The bedroom is a good size with a comfortable double bed, wardrobe (with full length mirror inside), chest of draws and chair. The bathroom has a bath/shower combination. The enclosed garden out the back gets the sun in the morning till early evening in the summer so you can sit have breakfast or dinner and watch the bees buzzing around wildflowers, pick herbs for cooking or alpine strawberries for breakfast if there are any left :) There's bike (or general kit) storage out the back or in the cellar should you need it. Also bike cleaning facilities. You will have a parking permit for the local area so can park for free either outside the house or nearby. It does get full late afternoon when residents come back from work so you might have to park in one of the adjacent streets. its fine to load outside the door though. Everyone does it.
Kendal is an old market town situated in what i think is one of the most beautiful parts of the country – the Lake District. Its also within 30 minutes drive of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, making it a perfect base for outdoor sport addicts, walkers and sightseers....

  • Absolut erstaunlich von Anfang bis Ende. Das Haus war wunderschön! So viele besondere Kleinigkeiten.

Makellos sauber. Wir liebten es!

You I had great times being a guest through airbnb before I began hosting and I want my guests to have a great time being here too. I like meeting people and finding out about their lives and travels. I live separately so guests can relax and enjoy the privacy of their own home from home. But I'm also only next door so I'm usually on hand to offer advice about places to go or if you need help or there is anything which needs sorting out. I also have friends who help me with cleaning and they are close by too if by any chance I'm out of town. Kendal is a market town on the edge of the Lake District. It isn't very big but it's safe and it's pretty with a river running through it and plenty of greenery and tranquility at the castle ruin. There's plenty to do and an active art, music and beer scene with a number of microbreweries. Plus the all the that the Lakes has to offer is on the doorstep. Kendal has two excellent and renowned annual festivals. The International Comic Arts Festival in October which again involves the whole town and celebrates all things graphic, cartoon and animé The Kendal Mountain Festival in November for those interested in the outdoors and climbing, film, photography and other cultures. Also look out for Lakes Alive annually at the beginning of September. Houghton House is about 5 mins walk from the centre of town and 10mins from Kendal train station. If you're driving there is roadside parking outside the house. Kendal is easily accessible from the M6 and has a mainline rail station Oxenholme Lake District with direct trains to London Euston 2.5 hours.

Vielen Dank.

The Bothy has been converted to a camping barn from an old telephone repeater station. It is surrounded by moorland and there are no houses or neighbours for miles around. The back gate opens onto public access land, and there are public footpaths and bridleways across the moorland within 100 yards. The Bothy has a roof-window and is an ideal place for star-gazing, as there is an exceptionally low and wide horizon, and low light pollution. Please note: The landscape is bare high moorland, with no trees nearby, and there are power lines a few hundred yards away. The road can be busy in the mornings, but it quietens off by about 9.00 am, and it is exceptionally quiet at night. The property is completely off-grid ie it is not connected to the electricity grid and has no running water. Lighting and low-usage power (eg for phone/laptop-charging) is supplied by wind and solar. Shap Fell Bothy is located just inside the Lake District National Park, on Birkbeck Common, much of which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest because of species diversity and rare upland habitat. The Common is home to one of the few remaining feral herds of Fell Ponies. The only near neighbours are the birds and the sheep. Shap village is 10 minutes away by car. There are shops, the famous Shap Chippy, heated outdoor swimming pool, pubs and bars. The Bothy is located on the main route from John O' Groats to Land's End, and in summer there are often walkers, runners, cyclists, motorbikers, vintage cars and even a unicycle making this epic journey. The Bothy is mentioned briefly in Wainwright's 'Guide to the Eastern Fells' which is essential reading for walkers. There is a remote weather station about 300 yards south of the Bothy, which can be viewed online. • Toller kleiner Ort.

Church Cottage is in the heart of Kirkby Stephen yet only five minutes walk from countryside with a river and wide open spaces. The cottage is stylish, comfortable and well equipped, with fibre broadband, Amazon TV, Netflix, coffee maker and a woodburning stove. Our kitchen has all you need to cook, groceries and breakfast food with fresh farm eggs for your first morning. The cottage is situated next door to Church Apartment and there is free parking nearby offering easy access.
Church Cottage is on a quiet and pleasant footpath next to the 13th century church with views of the garden and surrounding fells. It is ideally located within easy walking distance of all shops, restaurants, coffee shops and pubs, but within five minutes you are completely out in the countryside next to the river with open fields, woodland and country walks. Ideas for walking routes and an OS map are provided. We like to offer our guests a comfortable and relaxing experience while staying at our home in Kirkby Stephen and try to provide the facilities that we like ourselves. There is full gas central heating and the living room has a woodburning stove. There is an upstairs bedroom with a double bed and a double sofa bed in the living room. The kitchen has an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, coffee maker, washer dryer and plenty of cookware. You will find eggs, cereal, bread, coffee and store cupboard items waiting for you. For those who like to cook we have a kitchen table but also a dining table seating four. The bedroom is comfortable with views over the church garden and the fells beyond and the bathroom has a deep bath, plenty of hot water and a great shower. All linen and towels are provided.
Kirkby Stephen in the Eden Valley is a friendly and characterful old market town of less than 2000 people. In the town you will find independent shops, cafes and pubs, and a tourist information centre. Our Indian restaurant is very popular and there are good country pub restaurants in the nearby villages. Church Cottage is next to the beautiful 13th century parish church known as The Cathedral of the Dales, near Market Square. The church contains interesting Viking and Saxon relics, including the famous Loki stone that shows the Norse shape shifting god in chains. The River Eden at Franks Bridge is a couple of minutes stroll. You can walk along the river, through open fields onto the hills or to Stenkrith Park where the Eden has carved rock pools and waterfalls. You may see red squirrels and other wildlife here. The Yorkshire Dales and The Lake District National Parks are easy to reach from here. Swaledale, Wensleydale, Ullswater, Keswick and the North Lakes are especially close. Kirkby Stephen is on the Settle to Carlisle Railway.

Kirkby Stephen centre is approximately one mile from the property. The town has pubs, cafes, takeaways and restaurants. There are vast numbers of walking and cycle routes in the area. It is a 'walkers are welcome' town. The most prominent fells are; >Hartley Fell (where 9 Standards Rigg is located) >Wild Boar Fell >Tailrigg >Mallerstang Edge Which can be seen and walked to from the property. Most routes can be cycled also. There are also many beautiful walks available along the River Eden, and longer distance walks such as the Pennine Way and Coast to Coast. Other areas of interest and activities locally (within Kirkby Stephen) include: Settle to Carlisle Railway (less than a mile away) Stainmore Steam Railway (less than a mile away) Cumbria Classic Coaches (pass by the property) e-Bike hire Hang gliding Poetry Path Stenkrith Park (where the River Eden drops into a gorge known as Coop Kernan Hole - or the Devil’s Mustard Mill!) If you venture outside of Kirkby Stephen into the Dales, Pennines or Lakes there are endless places to visit. Leaflets will be in your room and I am always happy to provide information. The Tan Hill Pub (highest in UK) is just 12 miles away, and as good a place to start as any...

Great restaurants to try in Kendal include The Moon Highgate, Little Italy and Bangkok 7, as well as the Brewery Arts Centre. Romney's pub do a fantastic carvery! For drinks try Slate (amazing cocktails!), the Factory Tap or The Fell Bar. There are so many great cafes in Kendal, but Brew Brothers, Farrers, and the Waterside Cafe are amongst our favourites for breakfast, brunch or coffee. If you are looking for total relaxation, why not book mobile massage and beauty therapist "Lakeland Beauty - By Michelle Cox" to come to the cottage? For sporting enthusiasts, Kendal boasts a Climbing Centre, a dry ski slope and a Leisure Centre complete with 25m swimming pool. Local transport is available (within walking distance) to Windermere, the central Lake District, Keswick and the western lakes.

Brackenber Byre is a pet friendly, cosy cabin, in an old Cumbrian hill top farm where you can escape the overload of daily life (No WiFi). Enjoy the log fire, 100% cotton sheets, deep bath, luxury towels and Bluetooth speaker. The Byre is in the beautiful landscape of the Westmorland Dales and the ideal location for biking, walking, photography, seeing wildlife & star gazing. The Byre sleeps two in a double bed, is heated by a log burner, has a small kitchen, a bath and WC.
A stay in the Byre is an opportunity for you and your pet to completely escape the overload of daily life, so it has no WiFi. Many years ago the Byre was used to keep sheep in. Now it is a cosy cabin but retains many of its original features such as the wobbly walls and oak roof beams. Many farm animals live in the fields around the Byre so please keep your pooch on a lead. The Byre has parking for one car right outside and is separate from the main farm house, so you have your own private entry door. The porch area is a good place for hanging wet coats as the stone floor has a drain. All the windows have locally made oak sills with a waney edge, a charming feature. The floor is reclaimed vintage pine. The double bed is hand made by a local carpenter as are the oak window frames. The stained glass window in the WC is also made by a local craftsman. The bed sheets are 100% cotton, sateen weave and all the bedding and towels are from Christy. The kitchen utensils are by Denby, all of the finest quality. In the centre of the Byre is a circular log burner with all round glazing so the flames can be seen from all parts of the space. The log burner is the only form of room heating but once its going the Byre warms up very quickly. Next to it is a table and two cosy chairs. The kitchen area is very small and has a microwave, toaster kettle, sink and a small fridge. At the opposite end to the bed is a luxury deep bath with a shower tap. Piping hot water is available on demand via the exterior gas boiler. All you do is turn the tap to the left. A screen can be pulled out to provide extra privacy if required. In the roof is a Velux window which provides a lovely view of the surrounding tree tops from the bath and allows in lots of extra light. It has a blackout blind as do the main windows and door. Outside you have your own section of garden, near the wildlife pond, with a picnic area overlooking the dramatic rolling hills and the western slopes of the Pennine ridge. The garden is full of wildlife and the fields are most interesting during lambing time which starts about the 17 March and then afterwards the wild flowers grow till the grass is cut on about the 10 July. All the sheep and cows and sometimes the horses and a donkey are allowed back in soon after. During clear nights the star gazing here is very good.

Welcome to my home: a spacious, modern house in a quiet residential street just a minute's walk from Market Sq. Comfortable and nicely furnished, it's good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. I also have an twin room listed: www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/19010779
An airy, en-suite double room with TV, dressing table, drawers and hanging space for clothes. Cross the road from the house and pass through to Kirkby Stephen's main street for pubs, cafes & shops, a little art / culture, a small supermarket. But really you’re in the countryside: the Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales National Park are just minutes away on foot, as is the River Eden.

Cottage in the Southern Lake District. Also within reach of Lancashire, the Kent Estuaryand Dales. 8km from Kendal-walking, dining out and culture!
