There isn't a category for farms so this is the nearest I could choose! Great place with place to play indoors as well if showery. Loads of animals (always puppies and kittens to cuddle), climbing frames, old buses to drive, indoor play space and a v simple café with tea and coffee.

Established 10 years ago by a Frenchman, this is the place to come for interesting chocolates and they also do workshops. On the road just past Bonane on the Beara Peninsula and the way to Bantry. 5 mins from Molly Gallivan’s cottage. Open all year round.

The Homecoming Dinner which needs to be booked happens a couple of times a week where Irish music, food and stories are told by people dressed up in costume.

Restored castle from the 1400s on the edge of the lakes from where you can take boat rides round the lakes. Castle itself is a 45 mins tour but not suitable for small children.

Well, this is for the Beara peninsula as a whole really - many Artists work on the Beara peninsula as the landscape is so inspiring and a drive around will take you to some great galleries. 2 of note are the Sarah Walker gallery in Castletownbere (also the town where the photo for the front of the McCarthy’s Bar book was taken!) and the Catherine Hammond gallery in Glengarriff). Stop for lunch or a coffee at Mannings Deli at Ballylickey.

Beautiful waterfall which only takes 1.5 hours to walk over and gives stunning views. Combine with a trip to Killmackalogue pier for lunch and a pint.
