This is a chain, but you're gonna get the cheapest Japanese food in Brisbane (golden curry or udon soup from $3.99). Authentic dining self-serve 'system' where you select and pay for your add-ons (tempura, salads, drinks) and at the end you bus your own tray to the dish washing window. Great if you just want a small serving and to quickly eat something hot, as service is extremely fast. Nearly always has a line up outside, but the line moves quickly, people dine quickly, and the benches are free quickly. Mappen translates to 'one more time', because you will come back!
