Whether or not you are intent on buying some souvenirs during your stay, browsing the shops up and down Huguenot Road in Franschhoek is one of the great pass-times, and you would be remiss if you did not check out Masquerade, a gift shop at the front of town. They offer a variety of vintage-themed gift and decor items, all with a bit of a French flair. The shop is a bit pricey, but there is a range of different treasures worth a browse for sure--they get new things all the time, so you never know what you'll find!
