Take a journey through Tampa's African American past in this walking history lesson. Located on the site of a community founded in the 1860's by Tampa's recently freed slaves, the park pays tribute to a by-gone neighborhood that was once the heart and soul of African American life in Tampa. Whimsical art greets visitors at the front entrance, a splash pad keeps time with jazz standards, a nod to the neighborhood's former night clubs where titans like Etta James, James Brown and Ray Charles once performed. The park is also home to the Bro Bowl on the north end. A huge, free skate park friendly for both kids and adults.
