The confluence of Clear Creek and the Obed River are home of a series of beautiful sandstone cliff bands and some of the best sport climbing in the Southeast. The rock here is Cumberland Plateau sandstone, and the sedimentary layering of the rock tends to form huge horizontal roofs, jugs, and slopers. The rock is generally bullet hard and provides good friction. Climbing happens year-round! Chase the shade or sun depending on the season.

The Obed Wild and Scenic River looks much the same today as it did when the first white settlers strolled its banks in the late 1700s. The free-flowing Obed Wild & Scenic River and its 500-foot-deep gorges offer visitors unspoiled rugged terrain, exceptional waters, and outdoor adventure.

The O bed wild and scenic River stretches along the Cumberland plateau and offers visitors white water rafting and rock climbing. It passes through gorges that reach up to 500 feet deep. The area remains much as it appeared when the settlers first arrived in the late 1700s. It is preserved by the national park service including 45 miles of the river which teams with a variety of different fish. The park also offers various outdoor recreational opportunities, including several hiking trails.
