Walk or cycle along the canal to this great pub (or a 5 minute drive). We recently went for Sunday lunch and had one of the best roasts we've eaten in a while.

A lovely old-fashioned popular pub with great food. Overlooking the river between Kintbury and Newbury, it's possible to walk there (takes just over an hour) or it's a 10 minute drive. The garden at the front slopes down to the river and is a really pretty spot for lunch - especially if the sun's shining. Watch out for regular special offers.
