Salerno is an old shipping port about an hour by boat from Positano. The boat stops at Amalfi en route. Worth the trip just for the boat ride along the Amalfi coast. The city is old, small and easy to get around and has some great shopping streets and cafes. Its also a great place to rent a car and travel south to some off the path beaches and villages. Theres also a high speed train station to Naples and small airport here
