A good starting point is Grey's Monument, where there's always something going on, check out Central Arcade, walk down Grey Street then Dean Street, all the way to the Quayside. Georgian architecture and interesting bars and shops along the way.

Stunning street in Newcastle. Walk from Greys Monument, down past the Theatre Royal and to the bottom where you will get to the Quayside in minutes.
