The "Giardino dei Semplici" of Florence is the third world's oldest botanical gardens. Its origin dates back to 1 March 1545. The "Giardino dei Semplici" so called because it originated as a garden of medicinal plants, called "Simple". Today the garden's collections have been greatly enhanced with scientific expeditions carried out in Italy and abroad and special attention has been devoted to teaching by carrying out exhibition areas and guides about collections.
