Winner of the SA Tourism Award in 1988, and recognised as the first State Heritage Icon in 2011. There's really only one way to see Adelaide from the River Torrens and that's on board the Popeye.

The fleet of boats called ‘The Popeye’ are our own State Heritage Icons. Since the first boat was launched on the River Torrens in 1935, the Popeye boat ride from Elder Park to the Adelaide Zoo has historically been a treasured family outing and the boats have also hosted weddings and other events Today the tradition continues and you can still find The Popeye at the motor launch in Elder Park in front of the Adelaide Festival Centre. The 40 minute round trip cruise departs from Elder Park, travelling west to the Torrens Weir, turning around and travelling back up to the Adelaide Zoo before returning to the landing.
