One of Antwerps classics, you will find other chefs having diner here on their days off, In Het Nieuwe Palinghuis (paling means eel, and paling in het groen is a typical Belgian speciality, eal with a sauce of green herbs) a dish or a fish will not be on the menu if the chef was not able to find the best and freshest ingredients. This is an old style fish restaurant. Not cheap but worth the money and the experience. next to the Pedestrianstunnel, de Voetgangerstunnel. This tunnel permits you to walk under the river De Schelde, to the other side. Not necessary to do the whole walk, but you should go down with the antic wooden escalator (not with the elevator/lift) so you can taste a little bit of the atmosphere from antwerp in the 1930's.
