Born in Llano, the barbecue capital of central Texas, Cooper's has served its pit barbecue to hundreds of thousands of hungry diners since its founding in 1953. Located in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards, Cooper's has a large main dining area as well as an incredible indoor/outdoor patio with a view of the Fort Worth skyline.

Great barbecue cooked the old school, cowboy way with indirect heat. You'll walk up to the fire pits, point and grunt to pick out your meats. Right across from the world's largest Honky Tonk.

A relative newcomer to the Cowtown barbecue scene, Cooper's is holding its own with a large variety of smoked meats, awesome baked potatoes and blackberry cobbler. (Other sides and cobbler flavors are available; these are simply our favorites.) Proceed to the pit with caution; meat is priced by the pound. Don't let your eyes (and nose!) get carried away. A handy and delicious place to stop if you're going to Billy Bob's or visiting the Historic Stockyards area on Fort Worth's Northside.
